Kardiani sits on the hillside on the west side of Tinos. Two churches stand in the village, one Orthodox and one Catholic, and it has lived that way for centuries.

The island is windy, which is what keeps August bearable. The beach below faces south, so when the north wind blows, it stays sheltered.
