The house: five bedrooms facing the bay

130 m² indoors, 100 m² of terraces, and the whole bay of Kardiani right before your eyes.

The door that opens last

You arrive in the late afternoon, tired from the journey. You come in, and the children run straight into the five bedrooms to choose their beds. The adults stay in the living room.

The terrace door is the one I open.

In front of you, the bay. At that moment the tension of the day goes — I watch it go, every time, out of people’s faces.

Before you go further, two things honestly

Five bedrooms, with double beds. Ten people means ten people two to a bed. In practice the house works better for four adults with their children, or two couples with their children.

The house sits on the hillside above the bay, not on the beach. The sea is five minutes down on foot — and the way back is uphill, which does not suit everybody. By car, three minutes.

“We were two families (9 people from 12 to 53 years), plenty of space to enjoy life in the house. The house is well furnished and very airy. The view from the house and terrace is absolutely fantastic.”

The house

130 m² inside, and another hundred square metres of terraces. Half the space is outdoors, with the view — which is why a party of ten does not feel crowded here.

One large open space: living room, kitchen and dining room. The table takes everyone at once.

Two bathrooms and a separate WC.

Where you actually live

Under the bamboo pergola. That is where the day happens and where the evening happens — indoors is for sleeping and for cooking.

In every room you have a choice: silent ceiling fans or air conditioning. Most nights the fan is enough.

Two paths

Behind the house, a path takes you into the heart of the village of Kardiani in twenty minutes. In front, the second one goes down to the beach.

A few things worth saying properly

Safety, for three generations. Smoke detectors in every room, safety lighting at the entrances, fire extinguishers, a first aid kit and a blood pressure monitor. The house is high up and the road to the pharmacy is not short.

The bath is in the main bedroom’s bathroom. With a baby, that matters.

Sun, wood and compost. The hot water comes from the sun, the heating comes from the stove, and the kitchen scraps go to the compost.

Parking: a large free parking area right in front of the house.

Smoking: outside only.
